Federal Skilled Worker Program

What is the Federal Skilled Worker Program?

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) allows skilled workers with foreign work experience to immigrate to Canada permanently. Managed through the Express Entry system, it offers an efficient pathway to permanent residency.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the FSWP, you must meet the following criteria:

Work Experience

At least one year of continuous full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in the last 10 years.

Language Proficiency

Achieve a minimum score of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in each ability (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in English or French.

Education

Completed post-secondary education assessed against Canadian standards with an Education Credential Assessment (ECA).

Points System

Score at least 67 out of 100 points on the FSWP selection grid, which evaluates age, education, work experience, language skills, and adaptability.

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

Applicants are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assigns points based on factors like age, education, work experience, and language skills. The highest-ranking candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) during regular Express Entry draws.

How to Apply

  1. Create an Express Entry Profile: Provide information about your skills, work experience, education, and language abilities.

  2. Receive CRS Score: Your profile is ranked based on your CRS score.

  3. Get an ITA: If you score highly, you’ll receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residency.

  4. Submit Application: Complete and submit your application within 60 days, including all required documents.

Benefits of the FSWP

The FSWP offers a straightforward and efficient process for skilled workers to gain permanent residency in Canada. It provides opportunities for skilled workers to contribute to the Canadian economy and integrate into Canadian society. For more detailed information, visit Canada.ca.
